Time Magazine Cover

Two of my images was selected for the Time Magazine's "The Wireless Issue." There was an open call for images from 120 countries to submit pictures taken by their mobile phone. One of the images was a photograph of Wendy Nanan’s “Idyllic Marriage” – the marriage of La Divina Pastora and Lord Krishna – at Medulla Art Gallery. The other image featured a female in dressed in costume from a Tribe band launch.

IDENTITY:
In Post-Independent
Trinidad &Tobago
`

This project is based on these stereotypes that I have personally experienced throughout my life in the post-independence era. It represents the contemporary sensitivity to identity and how all these racial groups form this one nation. I have myself been subjected to these stereotypical or confused reactions. How is it possible that you look Chinese and have a Trinidad and Tobagonian accent? This happens particularly when I am in another country. Whether it is based on skin colour, customs/rituals or simply by what we eat or drink will all be shown in this project. The main focus will be to try to show how all these racial groups are represented through the use of photography.
