The Tacarigua Sculptural Playground Project

We shape the space around us
which forms is a reflection of ourselves.

This project is the brain child of Trinidadian artist Dean Arlen and with the help of NGO Dada & Projects, are redefining how we should engage with our play spaces in urban environments. Dean Arlene is a local from Tacarigua and he saw the lack of creative public spaces in Trinidad. This is why he has chosen Eddie Hart Grounds located in Tacarigua as the jumping point for this unique social design inititive.

The project design is informed by the history and culture of the area, capturing every essence of the neigborhood in its details. It emphasises on the use of existing manufacturing techniques and the the use of local materials to reduce its carbon footprint. The initial elements for the play space was based on drawings made by students from four different schools surrounding Eddie Hart Grounds.

My role in the project was to help prepare materials to be used for presentation to different stake holders and to attact sponsors. Therefore flyers, catalogs and digital presentation was created to help spread information about this project.

The Redesigning of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Report Forms

The Crime and Problem Analysis Branch (CAPA) was established in 2007. It is the data processing unit of the police service of Trinidad and Tobago. It analyses the police reports to gain better insight and statistics in crime hot spots.

Working with Abovegroup Ogilvy, I was given the task producing a more implicit layout which will compliment the heavy behavior patterns of the working police service.

Every detail of the previous forms were analyzed, from the use of the language to the categorizing and organization of the revelent information boxes. From the information gathered, improvements were made to make a more effective form design.

This includes:

1. Structuring the information boxes into similar categories for an easier work flow when recording the information

2. Introducing a numbering system for proper recording and easier processing of information.

3. Adding a template and a standard grid to which all additional or new forms can follow for consistency.
